Meet Arthur Liu – The Man Behind Alysa Liu’s Success
Arthur Liu is the proud father of Alysa Liu, the 14-year-old figure skating sensation who has taken the world by storm. Not only is Alysa a back-to-back US lady figure skating champion, but Arthur is also a single dad to a 10-year-old girl and 9-year-old triplets, all of whom were brought into the world thanks to two surrogate mothers and egg donors. Talk about a busy man!
Originally from a small village in the Sichuan Province of China, Arthur arrived in the US in 1989 at the age of 25, shortly after the Tiananmen Square massacre. He is an attorney by profession, but his real job is being a super dad.
Arthur’s day starts at the crack of dawn, 4:30 am to be precise. He cleans their 3-bedroom house, does the laundry, and prepares breakfast and snacks for his kids. Then it’s off to school drop-offs and a three-hour training session with Alysa at the rink. After that, it’s back to his office where he practices law while Alysa studies her school books.
Alysa is homeschooled at the California Connections Academy, the same online program used by fellow skaters Karen Chen and Vincent Zhou. In the afternoon, Arthur takes Alysa for another training session at the rink. With Alysa’s impressive track record, including being placed second in the 2021 U.S. Championships, it’s clear that Arthur is doing an amazing job!
There’s no record of Arthur being married, but let’s be real, when would he have the time? We’re just glad he’s able to balance work and family commitments while raising a future skating superstar.
