Autograph Tips: Be Prepared with Pen and Paper (or T-Shirt)
Be prepared for autographs with pen and paper (or a T-shirt). Have them ready on a hard surface and make sure your pen works. Don’t miss out on signatures!
Find the perfect situation
Just like any other person, celebs sometimes want to be left alone!
Maybe they’re enjoying a family holiday, feeling unwell or rushing to get supplies in their jammies – these are possibly not the best times to bother them, and it’s better to wait for a fan meet-up, to grab a signature.
However, if you’re lucky or plan it right, you could also spot them buying coffee in their local Starbucks with a smile on their face, engaged in small talk with a store clerk. When you have a scenario like this, chances are they would be okay for an autograph and probably even a selfie with you. So do your best to assess the situation first before you go charging in.
Know what you want to say
Stammering because you don’t know what to would annoy anyone, let alone a busy celeb. You should exude confidence and positivity, whilst remaining polite and respectful. Look genuine and sincere while you engage flattery mode. Positive superlative statements such as “I believe that you are the greatest of all time, and it would mean the world to me if you sign an autograph for me” or a simple “I love what you do; please sign this autograph” whilst not guaranteed to work, will get better results than bombarding them with demands, or stuttering some garbled rubbish.

Get your pen and paper (or body part you’ll never wash) ready!
If you’re lucky enough to meet a celebrity, you don’t want to be caught off guard. Trust us, they don’t have time for your unpreparedness. So, make sure you have your pen and paper (or T-shirt) ready to go. And please, for the love of all that is holy, make sure your pen actually works. Don’t be that person. Oh, and if you choose to use a body part for autographs, we won’t judge…just make sure it’s one you don’t plan on washing anytime soon. Now, let’s get those autographs!
Don’t act like an infatuated stalker
You are standing up close with your favorite celebrity. However, it doesn’t mean that you should take advantage of it to get even closer, ask for a handshake, or worse, lick their face – believe us, we’ve seen that done! You’re not wanting to become awesome BFFs, just grab their sig. Hand them your pen, paper, arm or umm … wherever, and smile – simples!
