Thomas Dexter Jakes Sr. better known as T.D. Jakes is an author, filmmaker, and bishop of The Potter’s House, a megachurch in America categorized as non-denominational. The Evangelistic sermons and the services in the church are constantly broadcasted at The Potter’s Touch.
T.D. Jakes started his ministry when he became a pastor at the Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith when he was still 25 years old. The church started with only 10 members. Then in 1988, Jakes joined the Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies which was founded by Bishop Sherman Watkins. It was in 1996 when Jakes established The Potter’s House situated in Dallas, Texas. The church was located at the 34-acre hilltop with a 5,000 seat auditorium and offices for the staff and employees of the organization.
Jakes strongly advocates sexual abstinence and also made appearances at Dr. Phil and Good Morning America shows. He was ordained in Oneness Pentecostalism.
